as mentioned in my previous post,  i am dedicating April and early May for my (in shaa Allah) final paper for my FLMI designation under LOMA. like usual, LOMA is all fun when it is very near to the exam date, and for my case, on 13th May. this week i took two days off and spent 2 days an half locked away in libraries. yeah, i spent half a day at my local library, only to be frustrated that it took me so long to find parking space, the library was very warm and their internet server was down. i drove up to KL on Friday morning, spent full 7 hours studying, slept over at Aisyah’s new place and spent Saturday at the same library.

i went back home late on Saturday’s evening and rest, crochet, gardening the whole Sunday. all in all, i’d say its a very productive week so far.

as for my MBC, i am proud to say that i am up-to-date, spent a couple of hours at Aisyah’s crocheting while talking/gossiping/watching a movie with her.

IMG_20160414_230507_wmi also got my self some new yarns (yeay).

more excitingly, i saw a post by Knit Picks on Owl Granny Square a few days back

Screenshot_2016-04-17-14-48-41_1

i think these are just so cute! i googled Repeat Crafter Me’s website and yeay, she have entries on the tutorials.

what do you think happened? haha.. this happened…

IMG_20160417_134420_wm

ta-daaa… miscalculation on my part, the owl is not properly aligned with the square. i of course cant find my “normal”button stash. so i just sewn these buttons instead.

i showed the owl to Aisyah and told her about the miscalculation, she said “this is what we called as creativity”. well, ill take that as a good thing then 🙂

the owl and April’s squares, i used the new colours already 🙂

right. going back to work tomorrow, and more study sessions next week.

ill write when i can, in shaa Allah.

yeap. i am all about maybelle this week. i came across this lovely blog and saw the Maybelle flower she crochet and fell in love. i bookmarked the page and on Tuesday visited it again and picked up my crochet needle, learnt to crochet one flower.

it felt good to know that finally i am “smart”enough to learn a pattern from a written instruction. whole these while i am a youtube learner 🙂

so this flower is just so pretty that i think i should use more colours. hence after work on Wednesday, i drove to Ampang Point and went to Spotlight. guess what, i was in luck. the yarns are back on sale! not 50% off like last time, but there was RM4 off each skein. wowiee shopping spree (haha)

some  new colours yeay!

i was so excited that once i arrived home, i made two more Maybelle flowers that night.

IMAG1700_wm

today i learnt how to make the squares too. well, the size is a little bigger than my old granny square and so i think ill do this as another project. maybe a teapot cosy or cushion cover 🙂

IMAG1709_1_wm

all in all, another week of great adventure with the yarns. next week will be back to normal as Chinese New Year week ended. stressing me to think about Monday morning’s traffic (oh my).

oh, before i forgot, here is the week’s squares. i used my new yarns already 🙂

and look who came out to model the Maybelles…

stay tuned everyone!

i was out with my sisters and their babies last Sunday and hence unable to post an update. and as usual, first day of work means a flat me.

so here is an update for the 24th Jan 2016, on 26th Jan!

i done all my dues for that week and it was a green week themed.

IMAG1669_wm

the green yarn was really comforting!

not just that, i also managed to crochet another pot cozy, using some hemp twine leftover.

nah… i am now in a “too long an afternoon nap”syndrome. its a mistake to lay down at 4 pm.

before i fell asleep tho, i managed to learn to make one solid granny square, guided by, again by YouTube tutorial. Here it is:

IMAG1661_1_wm

yeah, did not look as good as the sunburst that i learnt last week. But it will look neat if they are joined. Here is a picture of an pillow cover made using this pattern from google image

anyhow, i am up to date with my mood blanket, done the 17 squares as today is 17 of Jan.

long way to go!

p/s: so what have you been working on this weekend?

Hello there!

As promised, here is the first progress report. this simply means i have done catching up for the first 10 days of 2016.

i made 10 pcs of the squares, really very random colours and like them all!

IMAG1648_wm_1

the essentials. the small crochet bowl is for yarn tails 🙂

the first 10 squares

up close

i also learnt that one skein of wool (50gms) can only make 10 squares. more shopping to come, then.

right. back to sunday house chores and lets see if i am in a better mood to do one more (i am pretty sure i will crochet more today). i might also learn a few more patterns…maybe the solid square or even sunburst.

p/s: thank you so much for all friends who encouraged this journey. sms, whatsapp, twitter messages encouragements are so welcomed! now i have a friend who will also be challenging herself to finish a few projects this year (weeehoo!). and thank you too my best buddy who is now offered to be my fellow yarn shopper (so blessed).

I didnt remember how it happened, but last weekend I found myself ogling pictures of knitted and crochet blankets.

now you must know by now that i am a little bit here and there in hobby front. and please know that i started to play with yarn and crochet needles since i was 13. i only learnt to knit in 2010, when i was in my short visit to my friend’s place in dxb.

so anyhow, i have always wanted to knit or crochet myself a nice blanket. so the last weekend stumbled upon the images kinda ignite my so called desire (haha).

last few days i went to Spotlight after work and guess what… they are having yarn sale for 50% off. so what do you think happened?

IMG-20160105-WA0016_wm  yeah… this happened.

and i began my Granny Squares blanket journey that very night.

IMG_20160105_234711_wm my first granny square with 4 colours.

its إن شاء الله will be a cream bordered blanket. now i am going to do this as my “mood blanket” project. it means:

  1. i will crochet a square each day, selecting 3 color combinations according to my mood that particular day.
  2. if i skipped a day, i will have to make it up the next day. by 31st December 2016, I should have 366 squares and will use up the 1st Jan 2017 public holiday to join them.
  3. to hold myself accountable for this project and keep me motivated, i am going to post my progress every weekend.

since i did not start on 1st Jan, i have some catching up to do, so i will show the first result soon as i catches up.

hopefully ill get to show you the finished project, something like this one:

Eerste-deken1 (picture from Google Image).

ogle first 🙂

wow. long time no post 😛

yep, been very busy, but things are slowing down now (yeay)

the wedding things are over and done with, Alhamdulillah. I am waiting for the full wedding album to be sent over so i can post a picture or two.

hmm… so now i kinda came back to my mundane uninteresting routine. Lets see if i will take up some new challenges (or not) in 2012.

anyway, look who is looking rather suave in her new lacey scarf!

I was trying to knit my first lace pattern. Didnt have the correct yarn, so used some old crochet yarn i have.

friday the 7th

my subordinate, Theresa walked to my workstation carrying a box as I was walking back to my desk. She handed me a box and demanded some tip for her “service”.

i looked at the box in her hands and smile my biggest smile and said “It’s arrived!!!”

i immediately picked up my phone and called my friend in Fishers to say thank you (once again, Thank You Rahul!!).

when that’s done, it’s time to open the box! I was so excited that I cant stop smiling!

they are gorgeous and i can’t wait to knit knit knit :).

well, honestly i just don’t know where to start, being busy with work, classes and projects, knitting, and sigh, the long overdue guitar lessons. Life is simply not boring for me these days!

p/s: now i realized that i NEED to learn about yarn sizes. I bought some fingering ones this time so i will have to go buy size 3 needles. Haha!

the journey
