as mentioned in my previous post,  i am dedicating April and early May for my (in shaa Allah) final paper for my FLMI designation under LOMA. like usual, LOMA is all fun when it is very near to the exam date, and for my case, on 13th May. this week i took two days off and spent 2 days an half locked away in libraries. yeah, i spent half a day at my local library, only to be frustrated that it took me so long to find parking space, the library was very warm and their internet server was down. i drove up to KL on Friday morning, spent full 7 hours studying, slept over at Aisyah’s new place and spent Saturday at the same library.

i went back home late on Saturday’s evening and rest, crochet, gardening the whole Sunday. all in all, i’d say its a very productive week so far.

as for my MBC, i am proud to say that i am up-to-date, spent a couple of hours at Aisyah’s crocheting while talking/gossiping/watching a movie with her.

IMG_20160414_230507_wmi also got my self some new yarns (yeay).

more excitingly, i saw a post by Knit Picks on Owl Granny Square a few days back

Screenshot_2016-04-17-14-48-41_1

i think these are just so cute! i googled Repeat Crafter Me’s website and yeay, she have entries on the tutorials.

what do you think happened? haha.. this happened…

IMG_20160417_134420_wm

ta-daaa… miscalculation on my part, the owl is not properly aligned with the square. i of course cant find my “normal”button stash. so i just sewn these buttons instead.

i showed the owl to Aisyah and told her about the miscalculation, she said “this is what we called as creativity”. well, ill take that as a good thing then 🙂

the owl and April’s squares, i used the new colours already 🙂

right. going back to work tomorrow, and more study sessions next week.

ill write when i can, in shaa Allah.

wow March came and gone!

how are you guys? long time no see. i know its been a while i didnt update my blog. i blame it on the hot weather (haha) and like usual, the stress and all those activities at work.

but worry not, i am always with yarn and needle whenever i am free, wherever i am.

i took some yarns with me during my last trip to Sumatera too.. and yeap, i finished all my 31 squares for March. wanna see?

i started my pieces for April too, just two, today’s square is still on its way 🙂

IMAG1824_wm_1

so i am up to date, Alhamdulillah.

now i guess i could talk a little bit about Medan. as the trip was my fourth or fifth trip so far, i know i will not be able to say a lot of nice things about it. for me, Medan is the city of traffic, motorbikes and dust.

but amidst all those, i still love the warmth of the people. during the first day we were there, we took a walk early in the morning to buy some “lontong”for breakfast and everyone from each house that we passed will call and ask us to come have tea. of course we politely declined, but thats what happened for the rest of the days we were there.

teh manis (sweetened black tea) is their favorite drink and i just love to see how simple their lives are in the village.  how they all will wake up for fajr and didnt go back to bed, even small kids! i was a little ashamed when an aunt told me how her son is very lazy, saying he will only wakes up at 9am. gosh, i held my tongue from revealing what time i will wake up during my “lazy day”. hahaha

anyway, here are some photos i managed to snap. it was very warm, i was on vacation, so i was not very much in the mood of playing camera lady 🙂

right on. its very warm outside. lets cool down and continue to crochet. no little side projects on April. its the month to go study for my last paper for LOMA.

wish me luck!!

It was a better February this year. From my past experiences, my February was always a sad one. So Alhamdulillah for the better month.

So whats up with everyone?

Its very quiet here these days. I done my February stash and they are now safely stored in a box together with January stash.

And what else i have been doing, apart from daily square for March?

Well… I saw these when browsing the internet last week.

And so when i went to Spotlight (again) last saturday, i puchased some very while acrylic yarn (they are on sale, a 200gm ball for rm9.99). Its pretty simple to crochet really, i just followed the video tutorial on youtube and here is my  first bear

Hehehe…i didnt get to buy the correct eyes for it. But i had let Yasmin to take it home with her. Will crochet some more soon.

So anyhow, i am typing this while in the car, my younger bro driving mom and i to airport. Leaving for a short trip to Sumatera. Will blog only when i have wifi, inshaa Allah or when im back home next weekend.

Hence bye February….bye KL, for now.

Have a great weekend!

yeap. i am all about maybelle this week. i came across this lovely blog and saw the Maybelle flower she crochet and fell in love. i bookmarked the page and on Tuesday visited it again and picked up my crochet needle, learnt to crochet one flower.

it felt good to know that finally i am “smart”enough to learn a pattern from a written instruction. whole these while i am a youtube learner 🙂

so this flower is just so pretty that i think i should use more colours. hence after work on Wednesday, i drove to Ampang Point and went to Spotlight. guess what, i was in luck. the yarns are back on sale! not 50% off like last time, but there was RM4 off each skein. wowiee shopping spree (haha)

some  new colours yeay!

i was so excited that once i arrived home, i made two more Maybelle flowers that night.

IMAG1700_wm

today i learnt how to make the squares too. well, the size is a little bigger than my old granny square and so i think ill do this as another project. maybe a teapot cosy or cushion cover 🙂

IMAG1709_1_wm

all in all, another week of great adventure with the yarns. next week will be back to normal as Chinese New Year week ended. stressing me to think about Monday morning’s traffic (oh my).

oh, before i forgot, here is the week’s squares. i used my new yarns already 🙂

IMAG1712_wm

and look who came out to model the Maybelles…

stay tuned everyone!

i think i need to put in another rule for my MBC. that is, if its a month end closing week, i can have a lapse in updating the blog. having said that, it was indeed a busy week during the end of Jan. sorry for not updating my progress, and thank you for reminders!

anyhow i was also not feeling well last week, my eczema was bad, but alhamdulillah i went to see my doctor last Monday, gave me a jab and some pills and i am doing better now.

so here is the update so far. January ended and i have 31 squares wrapped in a bag and stored away.

IMAG1674_wm

and i opened February with a change. i now use 2 colors only for a while. i like them all the same.

IMAG1677_wm

the 6 squares of February

so there we have it, the progress of the MBC 🙂

what else have i done these two weeks? well, i learnt to crochet some coasters. the blue one was my training coaster and the green one is the second try product. gave both of them to a colleague as a birthday gift (handmade gifts are awesome).

IMAG1673_wm_1

and today i had sometime to look at the my small garden. loving this japanese roses i planted a few months ago in a cracked tea pot given by Noorul.

new centre piece for the dining table

right. its a long weekend due to chinese new year on Monday. will travel to Ipoh one of the days and the rest of the weekend will be for books and nap catch up sessions.

have a great one all!

i was out with my sisters and their babies last Sunday and hence unable to post an update. and as usual, first day of work means a flat me.

so here is an update for the 24th Jan 2016, on 26th Jan!

i done all my dues for that week and it was a green week themed.

IMAG1669_wm

the green yarn was really comforting!

not just that, i also managed to crochet another pot cozy, using some hemp twine leftover.

IMG_20160126_000831_1_wm

i will إِن شَاءَ اَللّٰه  plant some more of the Japanese Roses and a lucky friend will receive this soon. i planted mine and it is now my table deco 🙂

IMG_20160112_151211_1_wm

yeah, its a green week indeed.

stay tuned folks!

and its the MBC update day!

nah… i am now in a “too long an afternoon nap”syndrome. its a mistake to lay down at 4 pm.

before i fell asleep tho, i managed to learn to make one solid granny square, guided by, again by YouTube tutorial. Here it is:

IMAG1661_1_wm

yeah, did not look as good as the sunburst that i learnt last week. But it will look neat if they are joined. Here is a picture of an pillow cover made using this pattern from google image

P1250065

anyhow, i am up to date with my mood blanket, done the 17 squares as today is 17 of Jan.

IMAG1659_wm

long way to go!

p/s: so what have you been working on this weekend?

yesterday i learnt to make a sunburst granny square, thanks to the brilliant Bella Coco by Sarah-Jayne YouTube tutorial videos.

IMG_20160110_175643_wm_1

my first Sunburst

i like the way it turned up, thinking of adding it to the pattern in my mood blanket challenge. i think it would be great but ill need to do some maths as the sunburst is a little bit smaller than the Old American Granny square i am working on.

and to make its even “sunnier”, when i was tending to my small yard this morning, i saw that my sunflower is beginning to show it’s colour.

IMG-20160111-WA0002_wm_1

bright Monday it is! 🙂 🙂 🙂
