as mentioned in my previous post,  i am dedicating April and early May for my (in shaa Allah) final paper for my FLMI designation under LOMA. like usual, LOMA is all fun when it is very near to the exam date, and for my case, on 13th May. this week i took two days off and spent 2 days an half locked away in libraries. yeah, i spent half a day at my local library, only to be frustrated that it took me so long to find parking space, the library was very warm and their internet server was down. i drove up to KL on Friday morning, spent full 7 hours studying, slept over at Aisyah’s new place and spent Saturday at the same library.

i went back home late on Saturday’s evening and rest, crochet, gardening the whole Sunday. all in all, i’d say its a very productive week so far.

as for my MBC, i am proud to say that i am up-to-date, spent a couple of hours at Aisyah’s crocheting while talking/gossiping/watching a movie with her.

IMG_20160414_230507_wmi also got my self some new yarns (yeay).

more excitingly, i saw a post by Knit Picks on Owl Granny Square a few days back

Screenshot_2016-04-17-14-48-41_1

i think these are just so cute! i googled Repeat Crafter Me’s website and yeay, she have entries on the tutorials.

what do you think happened? haha.. this happened…

IMG_20160417_134420_wm

ta-daaa… miscalculation on my part, the owl is not properly aligned with the square. i of course cant find my “normal”button stash. so i just sewn these buttons instead.

i showed the owl to Aisyah and told her about the miscalculation, she said “this is what we called as creativity”. well, ill take that as a good thing then 🙂

the owl and April’s squares, i used the new colours already 🙂

right. going back to work tomorrow, and more study sessions next week.

ill write when i can, in shaa Allah.

It was a better February this year. From my past experiences, my February was always a sad one. So Alhamdulillah for the better month.

So whats up with everyone?

Its very quiet here these days. I done my February stash and they are now safely stored in a box together with January stash.

And so when i went to Spotlight (again) last saturday, i puchased some very while acrylic yarn (they are on sale, a 200gm ball for rm9.99). Its pretty simple to crochet really, i just followed the video tutorial on youtube and here is my  first bear

Hence bye February….bye KL, for now.

Have a great weekend!

i think i need to put in another rule for my MBC. that is, if its a month end closing week, i can have a lapse in updating the blog. having said that, it was indeed a busy week during the end of Jan. sorry for not updating my progress, and thank you for reminders!

anyhow i was also not feeling well last week, my eczema was bad, but alhamdulillah i went to see my doctor last Monday, gave me a jab and some pills and i am doing better now.

so here is the update so far. January ended and i have 31 squares wrapped in a bag and stored away.

IMAG1674_wm

and i opened February with a change. i now use 2 colors only for a while. i like them all the same.

so there we have it, the progress of the MBC 🙂

what else have i done these two weeks? well, i learnt to crochet some coasters. the blue one was my training coaster and the green one is the second try product. gave both of them to a colleague as a birthday gift (handmade gifts are awesome).

have a great one all!

i was out with my sisters and their babies last Sunday and hence unable to post an update. and as usual, first day of work means a flat me.

so here is an update for the 24th Jan 2016, on 26th Jan!

i done all my dues for that week and it was a green week themed.

IMAG1669_wm

the green yarn was really comforting!

not just that, i also managed to crochet another pot cozy, using some hemp twine leftover.

nah… i am now in a “too long an afternoon nap”syndrome. its a mistake to lay down at 4 pm.

before i fell asleep tho, i managed to learn to make one solid granny square, guided by, again by YouTube tutorial. Here it is:

IMAG1661_1_wm

yeah, did not look as good as the sunburst that i learnt last week. But it will look neat if they are joined. Here is a picture of an pillow cover made using this pattern from google image

anyhow, i am up to date with my mood blanket, done the 17 squares as today is 17 of Jan.

IMAG1659_wm

long way to go!

p/s: so what have you been working on this weekend?

yesterday i learnt to make a sunburst granny square, thanks to the brilliant Bella Coco by Sarah-Jayne YouTube tutorial videos.

IMG_20160110_175643_wm_1

my first Sunburst

i like the way it turned up, thinking of adding it to the pattern in my mood blanket challenge. i think it would be great but ill need to do some maths as the sunburst is a little bit smaller than the Old American Granny square i am working on.

and to make its even “sunnier”, when i was tending to my small yard this morning, i saw that my sunflower is beginning to show it’s colour.

bright Monday it is! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I didnt remember how it happened, but last weekend I found myself ogling pictures of knitted and crochet blankets.

now you must know by now that i am a little bit here and there in hobby front. and please know that i started to play with yarn and crochet needles since i was 13. i only learnt to knit in 2010, when i was in my short visit to my friend’s place in dxb.

so anyhow, i have always wanted to knit or crochet myself a nice blanket. so the last weekend stumbled upon the images kinda ignite my so called desire (haha).

last few days i went to Spotlight after work and guess what… they are having yarn sale for 50% off. so what do you think happened?

IMG-20160105-WA0016_wm  yeah… this happened.

and i began my Granny Squares blanket journey that very night.

IMG_20160105_234711_wm my first granny square with 4 colours.

its إن شاء الله will be a cream bordered blanket. now i am going to do this as my “mood blanket” project. it means:

  1. i will crochet a square each day, selecting 3 color combinations according to my mood that particular day.
  2. if i skipped a day, i will have to make it up the next day. by 31st December 2016, I should have 366 squares and will use up the 1st Jan 2017 public holiday to join them.
  3. to hold myself accountable for this project and keep me motivated, i am going to post my progress every weekend.

since i did not start on 1st Jan, i have some catching up to do, so i will show the first result soon as i catches up.

hopefully ill get to show you the finished project, something like this one:

ogle first 🙂

Was a bit down last week and i went for retail therapy with dear Haslan.

Got myself a bonsai for the office desk. It’s a jasmine tree, 6 years old.

When i came back to office yesterday, look what i found!

Cute!

i guess its the season of butterflies, caterpillars and pupae at home.

and i have been happy when i first saw those beautiful butterflies flew so high to my balcony at 4th floor to visit my little “garden”.

but unfortunately they left their eggs here. there are now lots of caterpillars. sadly, they are munching on my calamondin, kafeer lime and my favorite-i still dont know its name- trees.

this morning, while watering the plants, i sadly managed to ‘evict’ at least 4 caterpillars and 4 pupae. sad because i dont like to temper  with the nature. sad because they are ruining the plants.

leaves no more…

lonely twigs

oh well, whatever, nevermind…

two of them that i evicted. one is still munching away!

the little ones

side tracked picture. parsley!!

It’s weekend!

Like usual, i am trying to make the weekend to be as productive as possible.

On Friday evening, I spent 3hours art Masjed Jamek, helping and observing the -Treat the Homeless- with NGO that called themselves as 1Charity. I can’t get the details of this group on the internet, but they are a group of volunteers whom cook, serve, talk and deliver food for the homeless around Klang Valey. It was good, I just hoped we can do more for the homeless. In shaa Allah I will come to help again.

And Saturday morning, as promised, Aisyah came to pick me up to go to FRIM (Forest Research Institute Malaysia) in Kepong for the famous Canopy Walk.

(FRIM) is one of the leading institutions in tropical forestry research, both within the country and abroad. Founded by British colonial forest scientist in 1929, the former Forest Research Institute with Dr F.W. Foxworthy as its first chief research officer, became a statutory body governed by the Malaysia Forestry Research and Development Board under the Ministry of Primary Industries in 1985 and then in 2004, FRIM became a statutory body governed under Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

The 486-ha site in Kepong located 16 km northwest of Kuala Lumpur, is surrounded by the Bukit Lagong Forest Reserve. Read more about FRIM here.

I was not anticipating a jungle trekking, really, hence i was way “overdressed” with my clothes and slacks. Lucky me, i worn the Teva hiking sandals!

I did not snap a lot of pictures from both outings, but I managed to get some pictures from FB (for the Treat the Homeless) and made a short slides show of both activities.

the journey
