Since Che Ta can’t decide what to eat for lunch today, I went to explore the kitchen.

I had:

1 big onion

2 cloves of garlic, 1/2 inch ginger root

2 tomatoes (1 and half diced, another half sliced)

1/2 kg of chicken – cut into medium pieces

spices ~some star arises, cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom, red chili powder and coriander power and coriander leaves.

So I fried the sliced onion, garlic and ginger root till the onion is done. Then ill put in all the spices (except the powders and the coriander leaves). After a few minutes, I put in the diced tomatoes and some salt. When tomatoes softened, 1 tablespoon of red chili powder and 1 tablespoon of coriander powder was added. Stirred for a few minutes and i put in the chicken and some water and the coriander leaves.

Let it simmer until chicken is cooked.

In a different pot, boil the rice with some spices (star arises, cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom and bay leave). When rice is half cooked, drain the water out. Layer the rice on top of the curry. Line the sliced tomatoes and if you like, some sliced onions on top of the rice (i made 2 layers of rice and tomatoes). Put the pot back on small fire till the rice is fully cooked. I made some raitha (indian salad with yogurt) too.

It was yummy. And for desert, we had some water apples from Fama market and black rice dessert courtesy of my next door neighbor (yummy..thank you sist!!).
